The Sturgeon Bay Fine Art Fair on May 23 & 24, 2015 is hosted by the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center and is in its 17th year now, featuring a variety of work from 95 different artists available for purchase. The Fine Art Fair will take place at Sunset Park along the Sturgeon Bay waterfront. Enjoy live, strolling entertainment as you peruse the art booths, and bring the kids and create your own work of art in chalk on the tennis courts, and participate in the annual children’s mural and wood block masterpieces inspired by the black outlined paintings of Henri Matisse. The Fine Art Fair Raffle tent offers visitors an overview of the different artwork available at the fair, and nearby, find the food court with great eats and drinks! The 43rd Annual Maifest will be held from 9am-5pm on Saturday & Sunday, May 23rd and 24th, 2015 at Lakeside Park & Erskine Rest Area in Jacksonport, Door County, WI at the intersection of Hwy 57 & County V. Saturday and Sunday, starting at 8am, there will be a Concession Stand serving brats, hot dogs, snacks and drinks, the Women’s Club stand will be selling kolaches, funnel cake, cookies, pie, ice cream and beverages, and at 11:30am enjoy the Corn Roast as the Maifest Midway gets going with a variety of games and inflatable adventures for the kids, and starting at noon, Pony Rides from the 4-H Horse & Pony Project. Special features of Maifest include a Juried Art Fair, featuring 100 artists from around the Midwest, Helicopter Rides on CTY V across from the ballpark, one block west of Hwy 57, a Car Show between Erskine and the Ball Park.
The Annual Maifest Parade will be on Saturday at 10:30am, on Highway 57, followed by a presentation of the flag by V.F.W. Post 3088 in Lakeside Park. Live music starts at noon with Jerry Voelker & His Jolly Gents! A 10K & 2 Mile Fun Run starts Sunday at 9am, and from 11am–3pm enjoy the sounds of Modern Day Drifters with lunch. Check out the Horse and Pony Drill Team Performance and Trick Roping Exhibition by Chewy and the Frontier Farmers Horsepull on Sunday as well. May 21-24, 2015 is the annual Door County Festival of Nature, brought to you by The Ridges Sanctuary, Crossroads at Big Creek, The Door County Land Trust, and The Nature Conservancy, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and celebrating our World Class Wetlands this year. Door County’s wetlands offer scenic beauty, shelter to wildlife, and gorgeous backdrops for hikers, bird watchers, and other silent sports. Online registration is now closed, however, walk-in registration is available during packet pick-up at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall on Thursday, May 21 from 5-8pm, on Friday, May 22 from 8am-Noon, and on Saturday, May 23 from 8-9am.
Highlights of this year’s Festival include a Coastal Tour on the Edith M Becker, Breeding Bird Atlas Workshop, Brussels Meteorite Impact Site, The Wild Potato, Fish Sticks at Kangaroo Lake and more! Gather to meet and mingle on Thursday, May 21 at 6pm at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall.
