A Night at the Movies: Door County’s Drive In
![]()
The Skyway Drive-In has been open since 1950 which makes it the 2nd oldest in Wisconsin. With prices that resemble the old days, it’s a great way to spend a night with the family without denting your wallet.
Whether it be the foot long hotdogs, real butter on the popcorn or the $6.75 adult ticket for a double feature of the newest releases, you can’t go wrong.
Friday nights are possibly the busiest nights but the movies run all week. It is a gathering place for local people young and old, like it has been since the beginning. The shows start around dusk, so try to get there early. The lines get pretty long in the middle of summer. The first movie is always kid friendly, and the second movie is usually gauged towards the older crowd.
The playground in front is a great place to occupy the kids if they get stir crazy. There is not a bad seat in the place and if you park near the back, you can always pick up the movie on your radio.
Hungry? There’s no reason to go out for dinner before. Just check out the snack bar. Decorated with old movies posters and smelling like fresh popcorn, it has everything you could possibly want.
Definitely a must do while staying in Door County! Make sure you bring blankets and warm clothes because nights get a little cool up here. Always a family favorite, the Drive In experience will be remembered for years.
